
Melissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12, 1988[1]) is a Canadian actor and singer. In 2005, O'Neil won the third season of Canadian Idol, the first Canadian female to have won. O'Neil is best known as an actress for her roles on Syfy as Two or RebeccaAs Two / Portia Lin and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was chosen to be among the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. The judges were shocked by this , and they urged viewers to decide to vote Melissa for her vocal talent. O'Neil's performance was consistently praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom three. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a chance to win everything". The 7th of September, 2005 O'Neil made it to the final two stages of the competition, alongside Goudie. After many more spectacular performances she was praised by judge Werner famously stated that the headlines in the next day's newspapers would read "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead and the Queen will live forever." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand final results show, September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005. She was also crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
